AES Mesh Radio Reporting System
Valley Security & Alarm is proud to announce that we have installed an advanced radio system that is now transmitting alarm signals to our central station from the greater Fresno-Clovis area. This system can be used as a backup to the existing telephone reporting system, or as a primary means of reporting for sites with no telephone service.
Generally the alarm systems that VSA installs are designed to send alarm signals over the regular phone lines to our receivers. As a back-up we can now install a radio to send the alarm signals when the regular phone lines have gone down or been cut.
While this service can be provided by a back-up cellular radio, we decided to install our own system so that we would not be dependent on others. The system we installed is a mesh radio system and works very much like the internet. Every radio that we install became a repeater for the other radios in the system. This means that alarm systems that are a long way from the operations center will send alarm information by bouncing from radio to radio until it reaches our central station. This makes for a very durable system as there are always several paths the signal can take. The system is not dependent on cellular towers that can drop out of service.
In addition, this system can now serve as a primary means for reporting alarm signals to our central station. As it has been installed to UL specifications and all of the equipment is listed by the California State Fire Marshal, it can also be used to report fire signals. This system not only provides redundant paths for the signals to follow, but it has a duplicate receiver designed to automatically take over if the first receiver should fail.
It took a lot of work to get this system up and running and for us to confirm its reliability. We are pleased that it has proven itself and thrilled that we now have such a wonderful alternative to phone lines. Feel free to ask one of our account managers about our new AES radio system.
